It's a GIRL!

We found out last Tuesday and are so excited! Little lady was sitting indian-style with her hands crossed in front of her face during the ultrasound, but finally moved so we could find out that we're having a girl! Two little boys so close together would have been super fun, but I'm so excited for all the girly things we get to do now.  I also found out the placenta in anterior and that's why I haven't felt any kicks.  At this point with Oliver I was feeling a ton, so that was nice to know.

I've been thinking about her room a lot lately and had lots of ideas on a pinboard.  Last night when I couldn't sleep I threw them all together onto an inspiration board like the one I made for Oliver.  I'm so excited to get started on all these projects for her!

Oliver Scott is A YEAR OLD!

Our  official toddler weighs 23lbs 7oz (61st percentile) and is 31in tall (85th percentile)

His turning one was very bittersweet for me, but I'm okay now :).  It's just weird to think that an entire year has already gone by (it really doesn't feel like it's been that long ... but feels like he's been a part of our family forever at the same time!)

Oliver currently:
-has TEN teeth
-finally stands on his own without being nervous about it
-takes a few steps at a time (rarely)
-climbs on anything and everything
-is obsessed with anything that has wheels and will drive it around the floor making car noises
-loves to sit in real or toy cars and "drive" them
-continues to love the swings and is started to get excited about slides
 -has started babbling more consonants
-LOVES "If You're Happy and You Know it"
-loves to smile and wave and people and claps for everything!

alternating between taking bites out of apples and then hugging his lovey- little weirdo :)
new swim suit!

We had a busy few days celebrating Scott's birthday and then Ollie's the next

watching Baby Einstein on YouTube saved us while at dinner for Scott's bday

On Oliver's big day we went to the zoo! He got to feed the giraffes which was so cool (I didn't even know you could do that there!), and went on his first carousal ride.  He was fine until it started moving and then he was over it.  He usually loves everything so we were shocked! As soon as I got a picture we took him off :).  He still loved the otters and also had fun petting the goats in the petting zoo.  We went to Rain Forest Cafe for dinner and then he opened the presents from Scott & I and from Mack and Cheryl.  He totally got that under the paper was a toy and got pretty excited about opening each one!

Easter Egg Hunt

One of my friends from playgroup invited us all to a little Easter Egg Hunt a few weeks ago and it was so cute!  I thought Oliver would be too little to "get" the egg hunt, especially since he isn't walking on his own yet.  He did just fine holding onto someone with one hand and holding his basket in the other.  When he found an egg (they weren't hidden- just laying all over the grass), he'd let go of our hand and balance on his basket while he picked it up.  He LOVED it, and of course loved getting to swing and see all his baby buddies, too! I loved seeing him in a blazer and bow tie :-).

Easter day itself was pretty laid back for us.  When Oliver got up he went through his basket and did a mini egg hunt in the family room (which he loved again!).  Then we were off to church and later had a little dinner with some of our friends.
Visiting the Easter Bunny at the Galleria the week before - he loved the bunny!

What the Easter Bunny brought lucky Oliver :)
Easter 2012 - he was only six days old!!

A quick getaway

About a month ago Scott had to go to Newport Beach for work so I decided to tag along.  We figured this would be one of our last chances to go somewhere sans baby (or babies) for awhile.  We were gone three full days and missed our little man SO much by the time we came home, but the break was also SO nice.  I'd been super exhausted during the first trimester and just taking it easy for a few days was just what I needed.

We pretty much ate a lot (we only had a few days to hit all our favorite spots ... some more than once!), shopped a bit, and relaxed.  Scott had some work things to do, we went to a work dinner, and one night we drove up the coast for hours stopping at random places along the way.  We were also able to meet our friends from BYU for lunch on the last day.  Whitney was one of my favorite girls and I was so excited to meet her adorable baby, Cole!

Thanks Nana and Grandad for watching Ollie for us!
before his work dinner
we might have had this twice in a 24 hour period ;-)
Cafe Rio with the Davenports
Huntington Beach with a tiny 13 week baby belly!
Meanwhile, Oliver was having a blast too
even went to his first basketball game to see Ella sing in the choir!

Oliver is 11 Months Old

He weighs 23lbs 7oz
Gosh I can't believe another month has passed already! Over the past few weeks apparently Oliver has really grown up because I've been told a million times that he looks older/more like a toddler/less babyish which makes me SO sad! He's growing up so fast!

Ollie Man has had a rough few weeks with a bad cold, a lingering cough that keeps coming back, and molars that are supposed to be making their appearance soon.  Despite not feeling great, he's still a happy and friendly little guy and LOVES to wave and say "haaaa" (his version of "hi") to everyone he sees when we're out and about.

I think the biggest news from his 10th month was taking his first few steps on February 10th.  He took 2-3 steps at a time several times in a row.  Scott and I were freaking out and he was SO proud of himself.  He's only taken a few steps on his own since then, and still doesn't really seem interested in walking when we try to work with him.  He loves to push his train walker around still though.

Recently:
-he loves his bottles even more than usual and isn't interested in table food much anymore (teething?)
-adores his elephant lovies and all stuffed animals for that matter - he hugs them and buries his face into them
-knows pacis stay in the crib and likes to throw them back in when we get him out
-he started eating (yes, eating) his crib so I had to make covers for all the rails
-still LOVES the swings at the park and is starting to enjoy the slides now too
-likes to climb on anything and everything
-has 7 teeth (4 on top and 3 on the bottom)
-learned to roll the ball back and forth with us
-squeals and laughs hard when Scott chases and tickles him
-fake laughs when he hears us laughing at something
-loves "driving" our cars
-he received his first kiss on the cheek from his friend Colette last week at lunch! :) So sweet

I love this picture my friend Ivy took - so adorable!

waiting to get haircut #10!

we stop at the swings after my runs (which are happening less and less recently!)
